Wydad Casablanca open talks with 'free agent' Adjei

African champions Wydad Athletic Club are keen on signing Ghanaian midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei on a two-year deal after opening talks with him this week, Goal understands.

The 28-year-old, who is a free agent, has been spotted in Casablanca with his representative following the expiration of his five-year contract with Congolese champions T.P Mazembe last month.

Adjei opted not to extend his stay in Lubumbashi and was earlier linked with a move to former club Asante Kotoko, who are preparing to participate in the Caf Confederations Cup, but the deal fell through following disagreement on the his wage bill.

Wydad are hoping to tie him down as they set sight on defending the Caf Champions League title they won against Egyptian side Al Ahly last season as well as retain the Moroccan top-flight.

Adjei won a Caf Champions League, two Confederations Cup titles and one Super Cup with Mazembe as well as five Congolese league title and three FA Cup trophies.
