These two sides played out a close encounter less than two weeks ago in the Premier League and we think their last 16 cup clash will also be tight

Barely 48 hours after a league defeat to Manchester City, Spurs face West Ham for the second time this month at the London Stadium.

The two capital clubs will be aiming for a place in the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup and it was Tottenham who triumphed 1-0 when the two sides met barely ten days ago.

Latest odds

Despite an extremely short turn around between matches, the visitors are favourites on Wednesday evening with Spurs offered at 31/20 (2.55) by bet365.

The Hammers meanwhile are priced at 9/5 (2.80) to claim a win against their north London rivals as they did in this competition last season. The draw is available at 13/5 (3.40).

Team news

Dele Alli made his return from a hamstring injury against Manchester City and looks set to play some part against West Ham. Danny Rose is likely to miss out once more with a groin problem, while Jan Vertonghen is out until December.

West Ham for their part look set to be without Jack Wilshere who remains injured along with Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko and Andy Carroll. Pedro Obiang however could return for Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Spurs have been somewhat erratic this season, and their five defeats in all competitions have stopped them from building any real momentum.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has cut a frustrated figure in recent weeks and their showing on Monday night against City was somewhat disjointed.

Even then, however, they should have stolen a point when Erik Lamela missed a glorious chance late on and his wastefulness saw the side fail to score for the first time in 16 matches.

West Ham have failed to score in five of their matches this season and their record of four goals scored in five home matches in the Premier League is one of the lowest in the division.

Tips and predictions

Goals have been hard to come by at the London Stadium this season (with the exception of the 8-0 mauling of Macclesfield Town in an earlier round) and there should be plenty of interest in the price of evens (2.00) for under 2.5 goals.

Spurs are not firing on all cylinders and may well prioritise their upcoming Premier League and Champions League clashes with Wolves and PSV Eindhoven respectively.

Under 2.5 goals has paid out in five of West Ham's last eight games including each of their last three, and looks a strong selection for Wednesday's London derby.
