Brazil returned to Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour action on Friday for the first time under coach Tite, hosting old rivals Argentina in front of a record-breaking, sell-out crowd of over 95,000 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.
The Selecao went down 1-0 on the night, suffering their first defeat since the former Corinthians man took the reins in June 2016.
But despite the loss, there were lots of positives to take from Brazil’s performance...
"We played well, the result does not always tell the story of the game,” Willian told CBF TV.
"The two teams both created chances, I think we created more real chances in front of goal, but unfortunately, we could not break through.
"It is always difficult when you lose, but we have to work harder."
Atletico Madrid full-back Filipe Luis shared his colleague's views.
"Games like this are important for our work ahead of the World Cup," said the Atletico Madrid man.
"We are on the right track, the defeat will not disrupt our process, we will continue to get stronger and make sure we arrive at the World Cup ready.”
Coach Tite also agreed, admitting he was disappointed with the result, though not the performance.
“The first half was more balanced, and we struggled to contain Angel Di Marid,” said coach Tite.
“In the second half, we had the best opportunities. Brazil created more chances, played better, but just were not effective in front of goal.
“It feels bad to lose, but we have to absorb it all."
