Wasiu Alalade charges Nigeria to perfect scoring act before Iceland clash

Nigeria must sort out worrying issues in attack before their crucial World Cup clash against Iceland, says Enyimba and U20 international Wasiu Alalade.

In their tournament opener, Croatia secured a 2-0 victory over the Super Eagles at the Kaliningrad Stadium, thus, seeing them rooted to the bottom of Group D and narrowing their chances to qualify for the knockout phase.

But according to Alalade - and contrary to popular opinion - Gernot Rohr's men did not play 'badly', they were only guilty of sorting out chances they created against Zlatko Dalic's side.

And the forward believes an improved approach in the final third would see his country post a positive result in Volgograd on Friday.

“I have to disagree with some Nigerians that feel that the Eagles played badly against Croatia,” Alalade told Goal.

“The Eagles tried their best but they were unable to convert their chances in the last game. I know that if they are able to sort out their attack problems they can beat Iceland, and await what will happen against Argentina.

“It is the time for the coaches to make the necessary corrections that could ensure we revive our chances of qualifying for the next round. Iceland are also a good side but determined Eagles can achieve a positive result," he concluded.
