Ghana international Abdul Majeed Waris was among the scorers as Nantes handed  PSG a 3-2 defeat in the French Ligue 1 on Wednesday.

The Black Star's goal crucially put his side in the lead a minute before half-time, the Yellow Canaries having snatched an equaliser 22 minutes earlier after PSG opened the scoring.

He has taken his season goal tally to five in 28 league matches involving 20 starts.

Brazil right-back Dani Alves opened the scoring for visiting PSG at Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau, connecting to a Leandro Paredes assist.

In the 22nd minute, Valentin Rongier set up Diego Carlos for the leveller before Waris made it 2-1 to his side on 44 minutes.

Carlos added another goal to put the Canaries 3-1 up seven minutes after the interval but Metehan Guclu scored to reduce the deficit for Les Parisiens a minute to full-time.

The win has taken Nantes to 14th on the league table. For PSG, their first position was not affected by the setback.

Waris will be hoping to build on his form as the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations beckons.

The 27-year-old, a squad player with the Black Stars, has set sights on winning a place in coach James Kwesi Appiah's final team for what will be the striker's first Afcon.

He played for the West Africans at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana will open their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign against Benin at the Ismailia Stadium on June 25.

Waris' Black Stars then face Cameroon four days later and finish off their Group F matches against Guinea-Bissau.
