The former Spain international netted an outstanding acrobatic goal as he prepared for the new MLS season with NYCFC

The 2017 Major League Soccer season starts in four weeks' time, but David Villa has already picked up where he left off last year, scoring fantastic goals for New York City FC.

The Big Apple franchise are currently in pre-season mode, and defeated Jacksonville University 9-0 in a friendly on Thursday.

Guardiola: Yaya is like an amateur

Former Spain international Villa was one of eight different goalscorers for NYCFC, chipping in with two goals - including the stunning scissor kick which can be seen below.

Villa finished the 2016 MLS season with 22 goals in 32 league games, picking up the Most Valuable Player award for his fantastic goalscoring return.
