Tusker have shrugged off their 1-0 defeat to Bandari in a Kenyan Premier League match played at Kinoru Stadium, Meru, on Sunday.

The league defending champions were subjected to a home defeat by their title winning coach, Paul Nkata who guided them to a double – KPL title and GOtv Shield – last season before moving to Bandari.

The defeat left Gor Mahia and Ulinzi Stars breathing behind the brewers’ back on the table with 28 and 26 points respectively. But head coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe believe that his boys will rise from the ashes and retain the title. “The boys did what they could. It wasn’t our day because we got a lot of chances but we did not utilize them, while they got one chance and scored. That’s football,” Nsimbe told the club’s official page.

“On our title chances: the league is a marathon and we will have a chance.”

Tusker is still on top of the league with 28 points but on a superior goal difference.
