Stoke City's Choupo-Moting ruled out of Liverpool clash

Stoke City manager Paul Lambert has confirmed that Eric Choupo-Moting will not be available for Saturday’s Premier League tie with Liverpool.

The 29-year-old has not featured for the Potters since March 17 after he suffered a groin strain injury against Everton moments after scoring his first goal of the year.

And ahead of their clash with Jurgen Klopp’s side, the gaffer said that the former Schalke 04 player will not be fit for the crunch encounter, with right-back Glen Johnson a doubt.

“There are one or two with bumps and bruises. Glen Johnson is struggling. Maxim Choupo-Moting won't be fit for Saturday,” Lambert said in a pre-match conference.

Stoke are battling for survival after managing 29 points from 35 outings and will be aiming to shock the Reds in the tie to aid their chances of playing in the top-flight next term.

Prior to the injury, Choupo-Moting has registered five league goals in 30 appearances in his debut EPL campaign.
