Al Bayt Stadium, Qatar
La Roja are buoyant after their opening victory in the tournament and boast a strong record against the four time world champions

A euphoric Spain and a disappointed Germany meet on Sunday evening, with both sides beginning their respective campaigns in Group E in contrasting fashions.

La Roja enjoyed their biggest ever World Cup win on Wednesday thrashing Costa Rica 7-0, while Germany let a lead slip against Japan to lose by a 2-1 score line.

The pressure therefore is on Hansi Flick's men with another defeat likely to see them exit the tournament.

Spain vs Germany latest odds

Luis Enrique's side are favourites to claim a win priced at 13/10 (2.30) with bet365 and the last meeting between the sides saw Spain rack up a 6-0 win in the UEFA Nations League two years ago.

Germany meanwhile are available at 2/1 (3.00) with the draw at 5/2 (3.50).

Spain vs Germany first goal scorer odds

Alvaro Morata is the shortest priced player to open the scoring at 9/2 (5.50) although the Atletico Madrid striker was on the bench for the opening game.

It remains to be seen whether Morata comes into the starting or whether Marco Asensio continues as a false nine.

The Real Madrid forward has been in impressive form and is priced at 17/2 (9.50) while Barcelona's Ansu Fati is also available at 13/2 (7.50).

For Germany, Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring against Japan from the penalty spot and the Manchester City midfielder is priced at 14/1 (15.00) while Chelsea forward Kai Havertz is offered at 17/2 (9.50).

Spain vs Germany preview

Germany have conceded in each of their last eight competitive fixtures, with the likes of Armenia, Hungary and Japan all getting on the score sheet against the four-time World Cup winners.

With Spain coming into the game in such strong scoring form there must surely be a temptation to back La Roja to get among the goals once more, and the Germans do not boast a strong record against their fellow Europeans.

Die Mannschaft have not beaten the Iberian nation in a competitive fixture since 1988, a run of a five matches and that sequence could well be extended on Sunday night

Spain vs Germany tips and predictions

Spain are priced at 9/10 (1.90) to score over 1.5 goals which looks like a tempting option, while both teams to score is available at 4/7 (1.57).
