Simba’s relentless run towards a first Premier League title in five seasons continued as they opened up an 8-points lead after beating Mbeya City 3-1 at the Benjamini Mkapa National Stadium.
Ugandan sensation, Emmanuel Okwi scored the opener and his 18th goal of the season in the 15th minute after linking up well with his strike partner John Bocco.
Simba doubled their advantage in the 30th minute through Asante Kwasi who scored from close range finishing off a good job initiated by skipper Bocco.
Mbeya City narrowed the deficit after getting a goal back through Frank Ikobela in 34th minute but the goal lasted seconds before Bocco added another goal to make it 3-1 until the break.
The visitors returned in the second half with extra energy and tried to harm Simba through counter attack but the home side stood firm until the final whistle.
The concern for Simba after the match will be on their influential left full-back Ghanaian Asante Kwasi who was forced off the pitch after picking up a suspected groin injury and was replaced by Mohamed Hussein.
In another premier league game, following their 1- defeat against Simba on Monday, Mtibwa Sugar Sugar beat 1-0 Ndanda FC at the Manungu Venue.
Meanwhile, the game between Ruvu Shooting with Azam FC was postponed due to heavy rains in Pwani.
