A Reds legend has paid homage to a man currently starring at Anfield, with the £8 million full-back providing exceptional value to Jurgen Klopp

Andy Robertson has earned high praise from Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, with the talented full-back told: “Everyone in Scotland should be very proud”.

Eyebrows were raised in the summer of 2017 when Jurgen Klopp opted to raid the ranks of Championship side Hull City for a new left-back, rather than scour Europe for a proven performer.

He has, however, seen an £8 million investment handsomely rewarded, with Robertson having thrived after being given a chance to prove his worth.

The Scotland international has starred in Premier League and Champions League competition, with Dalglish delighted to see a fellow countryman earning recognition from outside of his homeland.

Speaking at an elite coaching programme masterclass, the Anfield icon told the Scottish FA: “Andy has been fantastic ever since he came in to the team. I’m sure he was Man of the Match on his debut.

“Everyone in Scotland should be very, very proud of him.

“You only need to come to a game to sense the respect the punters have for him. They really enjoy watching Andy and he has his own chant already, which I know means a lot to him.

“Andy’s a quality player. He has pace, his final ball is excellent and he plays with his heart on his sleeve.

“It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see him flying the flag for Scotland.”

Robertson made just two Premier League appearances prior to December, but has been a regular part of the Liverpool fold since then.

The 24-year-old is yet to open his goal account for the club, but he has provided four assists and seen his delivery from wide areas earn comparisons to notable wide men such as Manchester United and England legend David Beckham.
