Ahead of Sunday's showdown with the title holders, the Pride of Rivers coach reveals his side's mission at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium

Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma admits the reigning champions Plateau United are 'not pushovers' but insists they are 'resolved' to win in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Despite bowing 2-0 to the Peace Boys back in January, the Pride of Rivers are desperate to avoid another setback at home after their recent 1-1 draw at home with Abia Warriors.

Having been already held three times at home this term, the former defunct Dolphins manager is upbeat his team spirit with his side will inspire them to subdue Kennedy Boboye's men.

“We know that it is going to be a tough game,” Eguma told Rivers United media.

“Plateau United are the champions and they are not pushovers but we have resolved to pick up the three points at stake.

“We have been working very hard and since we returned from our trip to Maiduguri (where United drew 1-1 with El Kanemi Warriors in their last NPFL game six days ago).

“We have shifted our attention to this game against Plateau United and I must tell you that the spirit in the camp is high. I believe that we will pick up the three points at stake.”

Before Sunday's encounter, Rivers United are ninth with 29 points after 21 games, while visitors Platea United are second with 36 points from similar matches.
