The two Premier Soccer League clubs are currently locked in talks which could see Klate and Mhango joining the Chilli Boys

Media reports doing the rounds suggest that Bidvest Wits are set to part ways with winger Diane Klate and striker Frank Mhango as they are set to join Chippa United ahead of the 2018/19 Premier Soccer League season.

The duo is set to be part of a deal involving Bantu Mzwakali and Mxolisi Macuphu who are reportedly on their way to the Johannesburg-based club.

Mzwakali joined the Chilli Boys from Ajax Cape Town six months ago and is on his way out of Port Elizabeth having struggled for a spot in the starting XI where he contributed just five matches last season.

On the other hand, Macuphu switched from Jomo Cosmos in the National First Division (NFD) in January and is set to leave the Eastern Cape outfit – he scored four goals out of 15 games in all competitions.

The Sowetan website reports that the two players are already training under coach Gavin Hunt’s watchful eye as they hope to impress the Clever Boys’ technical team.

"It's unclear what will happen, but yes, that's the plan. So, Wits will have Mzwakali and Macuphu while Chippa will sign Mhango and Klate," a source told the SowetanLive.

Moreover, should the two PSL sides reach an agreement, Malawian striker Mhango will move the opposite direction to work under coach Dan Malesela.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic striker is reportedly unhappy in Braamfontein having failed to reach the form that made him one of the most feared strikers in the PSL.

Mhango appeared in 16 PSL matches and netted just two goals, a low tally compared to his nine goals in 24 league appearances that he contributed in Wits' championship winning campaign.

On the other hand, the experienced Port Elizabeth-born 33-year-old winger Klate is reportedly on his way back to his hometown to join the PE club.

The former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United attacker played in 24 matches for the Students last season and netted one goal.

Speaking to the website, the Chilli Boys boss Siviwe Mpengesi could not offer much clarity on the reports, but said the Telkom Knockout Cup champions must comment on the developments.
