Rangers Clement prays for fair officiating against Lobi Stars

Enugu Rangers’ striker, Bobby Clement has reiterated his belief that the Flying Antelopes can hold their own against any team in the topflight including Lobi Stars, whom they are guests of in a league tie on Sunday, if they have fair officiating throughout the course of the season.

The Enugu side have gone five games unbeaten including picking valuable away points in Maiduguri and Lokoja against El Kanemi Warriors and Niger Tornadoes respectively and Clement revealed that they are going to the Aper Aku Stadium on Sunday with the same conviction that they can replicate the feat but that the match officials must hold on to the tenets of their profession for them to have a good game and result.

“We have started doing well but we have not got to our acceptable place. We have played the last five games without fear and we are hoping we do the same in Makurdi on Sunday but we need fair officiating to realize our ambition. Officiating in the Nigerian league has really stepped up but we can make better by ensuring that the match officials are always guided by the code of ethics of their profession,” Clement told Goal.

“For us the players we are going to play a good game and we expect the match officials not to be intimidated by the antics of the home teams. Nigerian league has come of age and we can make it better by doing the right things always.”

Rangers are 12th on the league table with 35 points from 26 games.
