The former Phobians boss says he has fond memories at the club but would only return when his demands are met

Former Hearts of Oak coach Mohammed Polo has admitted his readiness to replace beleaguered caretaker coach Henry Wellington following the club's slow start to the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians have picked one point from two games including a defeat at home against Ashanti Gold and reports suggest that they're in the market for a substantive coach.

“I am ready to come in and help Hearts of Oak because it's a club that I really love," Polo told Otec FM.

“I always say that it’s very unfortunate when your work is not appreciated. During my tenure as the head coach of Hearts of Oak, it took me one month to produce a lot of talents in the youth team and many of them are currently part of the first team so you always need the right coach at the right time or else you’ll fail.

"Football in the country is not developing due to the several issues. I will only return to help Hearts when they accept my conditions because I don't want a repetition of the previous era,” he said.

He added: “I think that even [Pep] Guadiola, [Jose] Mourinho and Arsene Wenger can’t add any value to the players with the current environment, so the problem will still exist. The additional value any new coach can add to help the players’ form is what will help the club if he is supported."

Hearts will play Ebusua Dwarfs in matchday three of the Ghana Premier League at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Thursday.
