Plateau United’s Elisha Golbe has thumbed up the performance of the CHAN Eagles who surprised all to qualify for the final of the African Nations Championship holding in Morocco after they beat Sudan 1-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday.
The Eagles will play the Sunday’s final against hosts, Morocco who defeated Libya 3-1, after Gabriel Okechukwu’s 14th-minute strike stunned the Falcons in Marrakech and Golbe said in an interview that Nigeria’s representatives should be commended for the feat when not many gave them the chance to go this far in the championship.
“I will say I was more than happy with the performance of the Eagles today (Wednesday). It was a brilliant performance from them. We thought they won’t have much to offer again having qualified for the semi-final but they gave us something extra to beat Sudan,” Golbe told Goal.
“Not many reckoned with them going this far and what we can all do is to commend them a great job. They made us proud.
“We can only hope for the best when we play Morocco in the final. The Eagles have done Nigerians proud and they need our support at this point in time."
