Niger Tornadoes fancy their chances against Lobi Stars, says Ogbonnaya

The defender feels his side can get the much-needed result against the Nigeria Professional Football League leaders

Reuben Ogbonnaya claims Niger Tornadoes stand a chance against Lobi Stars when they clash in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Ikon Allah Boys face the boys from Makurdi when the Nigeria topflight resumes on June 18 as they push for the league diadem.

The first league at the Aper Aku Stadium ended 3-1 in favour of Lobi Stars with Samad Kadiri getting a brace while Ezekiel Mbah completed the defeat.

And the defender is hopeful that his team is up to the task when Solomon Ogbeide’s men come king at the door.

“I must be honest that it will not be easy against Lobi Stars because they are top of the table and I am sure they want to keep that position as long as they can,” Ogbonnaya told NPFL website.

“We know we have a chance to close the gap on them and that is what we intend to do by God’s grace.

“As a team, we play for each other. That is what we will continue to do under the guidance of our coach.

“That is the reason we have got some good results this season against El-Kanemi, Kano Pillars, Rangers and even Plateau United. So we will fancy our chance against Lobi.”

Hamza Abara’s men are sixth on the log with 37 points from 24 games – seven points short of leaders Lobi Stars.
