The signing ceremony between PFAM represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Izham Ismail and FAM represented by its Secretary-General Datuk Hamidin Amin - was also witnessed by the president of both associations in Hairuddin Omar and HRH Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim respectively.

After working tirelessly for three years, the MOU sees FAM officially recognising the work that PFAM is doing for the betterment of the players' rights.

"We thank FAM, under the leadership of new president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, for making this partnership happen. This MoU is a huge step for PFAM and the players because the voice of the players is now officially recognised after three years of struggle," said Izham after the ceremony.

While there are a good number of professional players who have signed up with the body, there are also others who have yet to do so. However, FAM and PFAM will not make it mandatory for players to do so and the decision ultimately still lies in the hands of the players themselves.

"It’s up to the players to join us, but I hope that PFAM’s membership will improve with the signing of this MoU," added Izham.

Through this MoU, PFAM will also work with FAM to revamp the details required in the contracts that the players signed with their respective teams, as a mean to give better protection to the players.

Tunku Ismail applauded the partnership and gave his full support for PFAM to continue to take care of the welfare from the players' perspective.

"The idea is to educate the M-League teams to be more professional. This is a positive thing for Malaysian football and it’s why we support this idea," said Tunku Ismail.
