Maritzburg United veteran Nazeer Allie has eulogised Khama Billiat as the best ever striker during his ultimate football career.
‘Silent Assassin’ as Allie is fondly known, shared his thoughts on the Kaizer Chiefs forward following a question regarding the Zimbabwe international.
The 33-year-old full-back, who cut his teeth in Ajax Cape Town’s junior team, says even though he thinks his former teammate at Ajax could have netted more than 39 goals during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns, he still regards him as one of the deadliest forwards in South African football.
“I played with Billiat, he is good. If I am not mistaken this is my 15th year being part of South African professional football,” Allie said.
“I was lucky to play against and with talented strikers such as Benni McCarthy, Mugeyi, Sibusiso Zuma, Nathan Paulse and Knowledge Musona to name a few. Trust me Billiat is a phenomenal striker with a lot of quality, who outdoes himself each season,” Allie expressed.
Meanwhile, Allie who has joined the Team of Choice on a free transfer following the non-renewal of contract at Bidvest Wits, has also shared his thoughts on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) title race.
“It’s a bit tricky to say, every season the PSL is becoming tougher. So, called big teams are always expected to be up there, but look what is happening to Chiefs. For me it’s too early to say,” he added.
Furthermore, comparison has been made with Siyanda Xulu, who rose from the ashes last season and was one of the PSL’s stingiest defenders.
“People are busy comparing me with Siyanda Xulu who last season became defender of the season after struggling at Kaizer Chiefs. We are different, and our qualities are not the same. As I said before I am here to play my game,”Allie concluded.
