Our tipster is backing Pep Guardiola's charges to win a goal-laden game when they go head-to-head with Manuel Pellegrini's men in China on Wednesday

Manchester City meet West Ham United in the Premier League Asia Trophy semi-finals on Wednesday afternoon. The winners will face either Wolves or Newcastle United in Saturday's final in Shanghai.

Pep Guardiola's men won the domestic treble last season and will be hoping to emulate that success this term. Manuel Pellegrini's men, though, will be hoping to lay down a marker of their intentions ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Latest odds

City are, unsurprisingly, warm favourites to win in Nanjing. Indeed, the English champions are 8/25 (1.32) favourites with SportPesa to come out on top.

The Hammers can be backed at 7/1 (8.0) with SportPesa to beat Guardiola's men. The same firm offer 4/1 (5.0) that the match remains deadlocked at the end of 90 minutes.

Team news

Strikers Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are absent from City's squad for their tour of Asia after their Copa America exploits. Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and David Silva - beginning his final season with the club - are all in contention.

Lukasz Fabianski, Declan Rice and Mark Noble are joined in the Hammers' squad by summer signings, David Martin and Roberto. Academy graduates Josh Cullen and Ben Johnson will also travel to China.

Manchester City boast unquestionable quality in the final third. Guardiola's men scored ten goals in their final two fixtures last season - including a 6-0 demolition of Watford in the FA Cup final.

SportPesa offer 5/4 (2.25) that City score three or more goals in this game whilst the odds compilers offer 10/11 (1.91) that the men from Manchester (-1) beat the handicap mark against the Hammers.

Despite Aguero and Jesus' absence, goals may flow freely in this game and City have no shortage of players who could make an impact here. De Bruyne will be keen to atone for the disappointment of an injury-ravaged campaign, while Sterling is looking to build on the success that he enjoyed last season.

West Ham, too, will feel confident that they can make their mark. Andriy Yarmolenko's return to fitness is a massive boost, while Javier Hernandez should be fresh after sitting out of Mexico's successful Gold Cup campaign.

Both teams can get amongst the goals but it hard to see City failing to start their pre-season preparations with anything other than victory.

Backing City to come out on top - with both teams scoring - could, therefore, pay dividends ahead of Wednesday's match. The selection is available at 9/5 (2.80) with SportPesa.
