The Pride of Rivers trainer says his side’s loss of focus led to their home draw against Kadiri Ikhana’s men in Port Harcourt

Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma has blamed loss of concentration for their disappointing 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Wednesday.

The Pride of Rivers were destined for victory after Godbless Asamoah’s early effort, but Amos Gyang’s second half strike crushed their hopes in the rescheduled Week Seven clash in Port Harcourt.

“We started well but lost concentration early in the second half,” Eguma said after the game.

“My players relaxed in the early moments of the second half and that is why we conceded that goal.

“That goal put pressure on us and we failed to settle afterward. When you take things for granted, you pay dearly for it.”

Rivers United remained 13th on the log with 10 points and will trip to Akure to face Sunshine Stars in a Week 10 encounter on Sunday.
