Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit believes Manchester United will miss out on signing Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt due to lack of Champions League football.

De Ligt is expected to depart the Champions League semi-finalists this summer with Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain mooted as suitors.

But while Barca and PSG can boast the chance to play in Europe’s top continental club competition, Manchester United find themselves in the Europa League after a sixth place finish in the Premier League last season and Gullit thinks that will prevent him from landing at Old Trafford.

Totti: Conte had agreed to take Roma job


Antonio Conte agreed to become Roma's new coach before instead taking charge of Inter, according to Francesco Totti.

Giallorossi icon Totti announced his departure from the club, ending a 30-year association, at an explosive news conference on Monday.

And Totti revealed Roma had sealed a deal with former Chelsea boss Conte to take over, only for the Italian to then choose Serie A rivals Inter instead.

Mats Hummels' return to Borussia Dortmund is expected to cost the Bundesliga runners-up €30 million (£27m/$34m), according to Sky Germany

The defender is expected to depart Bayern Munich to return to Dortmund once again, with player and club in agreement about the move.

The hold up remains the fee, but the €30m amount is expected to be what is agreed upon.

Manchester United and Tottenham have moved out in front of the hunt for Ajax star Donny Van de Beek, according to Calciomercato.

Inter were thought to be a suitor for Van de Beek, but Ajax are demanding €50 million (£45m/$56m) and the Serie A club will not meet that price. 

Martinelli to join Arsenal


Ituano teenager Gabriel Martinelli is set to join Arsenal on a five-year contract, according to Globoesporte.

Martinelli, who turns 18 on Tuesday, will arrive after the Gunners paid out a £6 million ($8m) transfer fee.

Negotiations over a transfer have been going on since the end of 2018.

Madrid want to sign Pogba by July 1


Real Madrid want Paul Pogba to join the club by July 1, despite Manchester United showing no inclination to sell, according to Marca.

Head coach Zinedine Zidane believes Pogba is essential to his plans and wants him with the club when they begin their pre-season training.

Madrid want to appease Zidane with both the transfer itself and speed of it, but will have to pay upwards of €150 million (£149m/$169m).

PSG target Coutinho deal


Paris Saint-Germain are targeting a deal for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to

New PSG sporting director Leonardo is looking for another attacker to go along with Neymar and wants to have a deal in place for Coutinho before the end of the Copa America.

Coutinho is expected to welcome a switch as he can be a more important player with PSG than he is at Barca, as well as team up with numerous Brazil internationals in Paris.

Atletico hold Herrera talks


Atletico Madrid will rival Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Ander Herrera, according to Paris United.

The Spain international is a free agent after leaving Manchester United and was widely expected to make a free transfer move to PSG.

However, Atletico have now entered the race and have already held talks with the midfielder, who now has to decide between the two clubs.

Lampard arrival to prompt staff overhaul


Frank Lampard's apppointment as Chelsea boss will spark a significant overhaul of the club's coaching staff, according to the Telegraph.

The Blues are expected to make an approach for Derby boss Lampard in the coming days after Maurizio Sarri left to join Juventus.

Should Lampard return to Stamford Bridge then up to nine members of Sarri's staff could be moved on or given different roles.

Everton confident of Baines agreement


Everton are still confident that defender Leighton Baines will sign a new contract, report the Liverpool Echo.

The 34-year-old's current deal expires this summer and a new 12-month deal remains on the table.

Fellow defender Phil Jagielka was released by the Toffees earlier this month after the club opted not to offer him a new contract.

Benfica close in on Real striker


Benfica are close to agreeing a deal to sign Raul de Tomas from Real Madrid, report Marca.

The Portuguese club are set to pay a fee in the region of €20 million (£18m/$22.4m) for the 24-year-old forward.

De Tomas scored 14 La Liga goals while on loan at Rayo Vallecano last season.

Roma increase Dzeko price


Roma have increased their asking price for Inter target Edin Dzeko from €20 million to €22 million (£19.6m/$25m) report Calciomercato.

The Bosnian striker has reportedly already agreed a three-year deal to move to Inter, but the club have yet to increase their €13 million offer for the 33-year-old.

Roma were keen to offload Dzeko in order to raise funds but the expected €45m departure of Kostas Manolas has eased the pressure on their finances, prompting the Giallorossi to up their asking price.

Lyon reveal Ndombele fee


Tottenham have been told they will have to pay up to £63m ($79m) to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, report Sky Sports.

Spurs are keen to bolster their midfield this summer and have been in talks with Lyon for some time, though an agreement has yet to be reached.

The 22-year-old is currently on holiday and will not make a firm decision about his future until his return in early July.

Zieler returns to Hannover


Former Leicester goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler has returned for a second spell at Hannover, signing a four-year deal.

The 30-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United but left without making a senior appearance, previously played for Hannover between 2010 and 2016.

Napoli eye James move


Napoli have made Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez one of their top transfer targets this summer, report Il Mattino via Calciomercato.

James is back at Real after Bayern Munich opted not to sign the 27-year-old permanently at the end of their two-year loan agreement.

He is still expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer and Napoli hope their goalkeeper David Ospina can persuade James to move to Naples while the two are together with Colombia at the Copa America.


West Ham reject player plus cash deal for Diop


West Ham have rejected an offer of £40 million ($57m) plus an unknown player from Manchester United for defender Issa Diop, report the Mirror.

The Red Devils have turned their attentions to the 22-year-old having previously been linked with the likes of Leicester's Harry Maguire and Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt.

However, it has already been claimed that the Hammers are determined to hang on to Diop, who cost £22 million from Toulouse last summer.

Lunin to act as Courtois backup


Ukraine were crowned champions of the Under-20 World Cup after beating South Korea in the final on Saturday, ably aided in their quest by Andriy Lunin, who was awarded the Golden Glove as the tournament's best goalkeeper.

Conceding just four goals in seven matches, the Real Madrid-owned shot-stopper proved his worth on one of the grandest of stages after and underwhelming loan spell at Leganes had fans questioning why the 20-year-old had been signed for €8.5 million back in 2018.

Goal reported previously that Madrid had been following the relative unknown for two full seasons before splashing out on Lunin, however, and can now reveal that they are confident enough in the young custodian to allow both Keylor Navas and Luca Zidane to move on.

Benfica rubbish reports of Atletico deal for Joao Felix


Benfica have vehemently denied reports claiming Atletico Madrid are on the brink of signing teenager Joao Felix.

Reports in the Spanish press claimed Atletico were due to announce the signing of the 19-year-old imminently after agreeing to pay his €120 million (£107m/$135m) release clause.

However, Benfica have moved swiftly to deny the rumours while reiterating that the release clause is still active for any club willing to meet its value.

Teenage Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba wants to join Arsenal, but a move still must overcome difficult hurdles, according to the Daily Star.

The 18-year-old is close to agreeing a five-year deal with the Gunners, but Saint-Etienne want Saliba to remain on loan at the club next season.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is hesitant to use up a substantial part of his transfer budget on the £27 million ($34m) rated defender if he cannot use him in the coming year.

McLean signs new Norwich deal


Kenny McLean has signed a new three-year contract with Premier League returnees Norwich, the club have announced.

The 27-year-old played 20 games in the Championship last season after making the move from Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.

McLean told the club's official website: “To be here for another three years is excellent for me. I feel I’ve settled in really well to the Club and the city and there are now exciting times ahead."

Man City near Cancelo deal


Manchester City and Juventus are close to reaching a deal for right-back Joao Cancelo.

Goal reported on June 6 that the two clubs have been in advanced talks regarding a move for the Portugal international, with Juve holding out for more than €50 million (£44m/$56m).

Sources in Italy now indicate that further talks have taken place on Monday, and while City are still reluctant to meet Juventus’ top asking price, they are prepared to up their initial offer and conclude a deal.

Man Utd have £50m Wan-Bissaka bid rejected


Manchester United have had an improved £50 million ($63m) bid for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejected, according to Sky Sports.

United's bid was worth an initial £35m, with an additional £15m achievable through incentives.

Palace are believed to be willing to accept £50m for the right-back, but do not want any part of the deal to be incentive-laden, and are under no pressure to sell with Wan-Bissaka having three years left on his contract.

Bayer Leverkusen land Ajax defender


Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Ajax defender Daley Sinkgraven, the Bundesliga club have announced.

The 23-year-old full-back joins the Leverkusen on a four-year contract after reportedly landing at the club on a €5 million (£4.5m/$6m) transfer.  

Burnley join race for Maupay


Burnley are among the clubs interested in Brentford forward Neal Maupay, according to the Daily Mail.

Burnley will likely bid £15 million ($19m), though it is believed Maupay is valued at £20m after scoring 28 goals last season.

In addition to Burnley, Sheffield United, Sevilla and Aston Villa are believed to be interested in the 22-year-old Maupay. 

Chelsea reject Barca and Atletico bids for Willian


The La Liga clubs made £35m offers for the winger

Chelsea have rejected a pair of £35 million ($44m) bids from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for Willian, according to Sky Sports.

Willian was subject to multiple bids from Barcelona last summer and has one year left on his contract with the Blues. 

However, Chelsea do not want to lose the winger, having sold Eden Hazard and facing a transfer ban, and are hopeful they can extend Willian on a two-year deal.

Ojo on verge of joining Rangers on loan


Rangers are set to complete the signing of Sheyi Ojo on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.

The 21-year-old will spend the entire 2019-20 campaign at Ibrox as Steven Gerrard’s side look to mount a serious challenge for the Scottish Premiership. He becomes the Gers' fifth signing of a busy summer.

Ojo struggled to make an impression during a spell with Stade Reims in Francelast season, making just three league starts for the Ligue 1 outfit, but Liverpool are confident that the former MK Dons man can enjoy better fortunes up at Rangers.

The Scottish defender had previously plied his trade in his home country with Partick Thistle, Alloa Athletic and Airdrie.

Sanchez can use Copa America to escape Man Utd hell


Alexis Sanchez can use the Copa America to put himself in the shop window this summer and escape a torrid spell at Manchester United, says Chile manager Reinaldo Rueda.
