KF Shkëndija sign Nigerian left-back Alma Wakili from FK Trakai

KF Shkëndija have completed the signing of Alma Wakili from FK Trakai in a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old played a huge role - featuring in all six qualifying games - as Trakai almost scaled past the preliminaries of the ongoing Europa League at their first time of asking, but his new club Shkëndija halted their progress.

And after also impressing in the Lithuanian top-flight with the Knights, playing 17 games, scoring two goals from his defensive position, the marauding left-back has been poached by the Red and Blacks.

"I was opportune to play against Shkëndija in the Europa League qualifiers last year and I really value the club,"  said Wakili.

"I saw the club had lot of quality. I know this club has a lot of ambition also to get to the Europa League and do big things in Europe.

"So it was an honour for me when the club was interested in me. And I really did everything to be here and now I'm happy to be here and I hope to impress the coach, the fans and do well for myself and my career," he concluded.

Wakili will be hoping to make his debut when the Macedonian First League table-toppers welcome Vardar to the Ecolog Arena for their first competitive tie of 2018 on February 14.

Shkëndija finished the first half of the 2017-18 campaign at the summit of the log with 46 points from 18 games and they will be looking to maintain the momentum as they aim to claim their second league diadem.
