Kano Pillars' Adewale Ojebisi says his side are aiming to avoid defeat when they trade tackles with Yobe Desert Stars at the Damaturu Stadium on Sunday.
Ibrahim Musa's men defeated Go Round 2-0 to go top of the league table and they would be hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to eight consecutive matches against the newcomers.
Though Muhammed Babaganaru's side are back in Damaturu from Kano, having rehabilitated their stadium, but the midfielder insists they are ready to battle for the maximum points.
"It is an important match for us because we are hoping to remain on the top of the [Nigeria Professional Football League] table,” Ojebisi told Goal.
"I know that Damaturu is not an easy place to go to and get results because they are a solid side. If we consider their position on the table, you will accept that Yobe have not done badly this season.
"We are also aware that they have not drop point at home, which means they are very strong at home. They are also an ambitious side and got our former coach [Muhammed Babaganaru], who knows us in and out and that will really make the game very interesting.
"Notwithstanding, I still think we have a chance and confident that we return to Kano with a tangible result. We have picked draws in our last three away games and that will surely motivate us to work hard and remain unbeaten.
"Personally, I hope we keep up our good form this season and I believe we can pull a surprise in Damaturu."
Victory at Yobe Desert would see Kano Pillars stay on top for another week, regardless of the result between Lobi Stars and Katsina United in Markudi on Sunday.
