Amid interests from top European clubs last summer, the Senegal international hasreiterated his desire to stay at the Stadio San Paolo to win trophies

Kalidou Koulibaly has disclosed that he would have no problem signing and staying forever in Napoli if handed a contract renewal.

Koulibaly’s impressive defensive displays for the Partenopei this season has kept Maurizio Sarri's men atop of the Serie A table with just a defeat from 20 league games.

And the former Genk defender is aiming to repay the club fans with their first Italian top-flight title since 1990.

"For my family and for the fans, if the contract was good, I would have no problem signing, staying forever,” Koulibaly told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Here I am very well, the city and the team give me everything, I want to give back to the Neapolitans, I want to give them the Scudetto."

The Senegalese defender who joined from Genk in June 2014 also praised manager Sarri who succeeded Rafael Benitez in 2015 for his development.

He continued: “Sarri has really helped me. ‘Listen to me and you will become a champion’ he told me in his first year at Napoli.

"Things were not going well for me here before his arrival but the game against Club Brugge did change my career.”

With the league set to resume from its winter break on Sunday, the 26-year-old disclosed that the Naples outfit are out to end Juventus’ dominance in the Italian topflight after claiming back-to-back titles since 2011.

“We want to battle it out for the Scudetto. We’ll do everything we can to win it. We want to end the dominion of the Bianconeri. We deserve to be table leaders, we are showing that we can win playing a well."

Napoli continue their Scudetto chase with a visit to Atalanta on January 21.
