Kaizer Chiefs confirm Gordinho deal, dismiss Laffor reports

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has confirmed that Lorenzo Gordinho has extended his contract with the club.

The 22-year-old defender returned from Denmark on Tuesday following a week-long trial with Aalborg BK.

Goal reported on Monday that Amakhosi were in advanced talks with Gordinho regarding the extension of his contract, but it has now been confirmed that the centre-back will remain at Naturena for the foreseeable future.

"Gordinho has extended his contract, but we haven't made the announcement. I can't give you all the details," Motaung told The Sowetan.

Meanwhile, the Amakhosi boss dismissed reports linking Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Anthony Laffor to the club.

The 31-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract with the Brazilians, and while he hasn't opened negotiations with his current employers, media reports suggest that he could be moving to the Soweto giants.

However, Motaung poured cold water on the reports, saying the Liberian frontman hasn't been part of their discussions.

"There is no such thing. We haven't spoken about Laffor and we haven't even had a discussion about Laffor," Motaung concluded.

Chiefs are in the market for a quality striker to boost their chances of challenging for the PSL title in the second half of the season.

They are expected to announce player movements as soon as they return from their mid-season camp in Potchefstroom.
