Jonathan Kodjia brace alerts Premier League sides

Ivorian attacker Jonathan Kodjia netted a brace for Championship side Aston Villa in their 2-0 win over Norwich City at Villa Park on Saturday.

The win was Villa’s sixth from seven matches, and pulls the club to within 10 points of a play-off spot.

Kodjia has been a revelation since signing from Bristol City last summer, and Saturday's brace took his tally up to 17 for the current campaign.

On the back of an impressive outing and a goal for the Cote d'Ivoire in their 2-0 win over Russia in an international friendly played in Krasnodar last week, the 27-year-old continued from where he left off.

Kodjia opened his scoring by pouncing on a terrific ball from Scott Hogan to open the scoring before he capitalized on a defensive error to add a second when Sam Johnstone’s poor clearance left Norwich keeper Michael McGovern and Ryan Bennett caught between two minds, allowing the West African to sneak in and bury his second.

The former Reims and Angers attacker is reported to have attracted a lot of attention from clubs in the English top tier, and having already lost Jordan Ayew to Swansea City, Steve Bruce's Villa ought to prepare themselves to lose another frontman this summer.

Bruce has been quoted saying that the French-born attacker is not for sale, but he later revealed that he wouldn’t deny him a move if a side of Chelsea’s calibre came calling.
