Mexico winger Jesus Corona has pulled out of the Confederations Cup, coach Juan Carlos Osorio announced Saturday.
"On Jesus M. Corona, it's a personal decision and we deeply respect it," Osorio said at a news conference ahead of Sunday's World Cup qualifier against the United States.
"El Tecatito" has seen his role with the national team grow under Osorio, playing in six World Cup qualifiers since the manager took over late in 2015.
Without the 24-year-old as an option on the left wing, winger Hirving Lozano could be called upon to fill the spot, while Raul Jimenez and Giovani dos Santos also have played in the position for Osorio.
The Mexican federation is in contact with FIFA to see if a replacement player can be named.
