Jesse Were forcing way out of Zesco United

Zesco United star striker Jesse Were is considering slapping in a transfer request in order to force through a Sh35million move to Tunisia, Goal can exclusively reveal.

According to well-placed sources, the 27 year-old is unsettled after his parent club turned down a bid in excess of Sh16 million from a top Tunisian club, believed to be either Esperance  Sportiff or Etoile du Sahel. This deal would also have the Kenya international pocket a Sh8 million signing bonus, alongside an estimated Sh1 million as monthly salary and bonuses, figures that have turned the head of the Nairobi born player.

"Zesco say they will not sell under whatever circumstance. Yet the player has had his head turned by this offer. The only way forward is if the player can personally talk to the club officials and ask to leave," our source revealed.

Zesco United will be going all out to reclaim the league title they lost to Zanaco last season. The "Timu Ya Ziko" who made it to the semis of the Caf Champions League in 2016, will also be competing in Caf Confederation Cup in 2017, hence seem all too keen to retain the Kenyan goal-poacher as part of their strike force.

This development marks an important highlight in Were's career, especially coming in the back of a splendid debut season in Zambia's top flight league, in which he scored 23 goals overall, with 16 of the strikes coming in the league.
