Steve Coppell praised his players for showing great intent against a 'dangerous' Delhi Dynamos side...

Jamshedpur FC registered their second consecutive win on home soil on Sunday evening by beating Delhi Dynamos 3-2. They came back from a 0-2 deficit to claim a memorable win.

Tiri, Raju Yumnam and Trindade Goncalves scored the goals for the home side after Kalu Uche netted a brace for Delhi.

Jamshedpur FC coach Steve Coppell explained as to why his team conceded two early goals.

“The reason why we conceded two early goals is because Delhi Dynamos are a dangerous team. They have great pace. We conceded two similar goals which were generated from the left flank. I felt we were defending narrow. The defenders should have widened a bit.

“Before the game, I was aware that they are a team who goes forward. Their full-backs push up a lot. They bashed us up and they were better than us initially. We were on the ropes in the first 15 to 20 minutes,” said Coppell.

On being asked how the team came back from a two-goal deficit, Coppell replied, “We had a positive mentality after conceding two goals. Tiri’s goal was vital, it gave us the confidence. Delhi had raw pace and it was dangerous. Both their full backs are quick. (Lallianzuala) Chhangte is quick. Their wingers are also very quick. It could have gone either way.”

Jamshedpur were denied a genuine penalty decision in the 74th minute when Delhi’s Vinit Rai handled the ball inside the penalty box from Trindade’s shot.

Coppell, though, refused to criticize the referee and instead chose to praise the match officials.

“I think the referee did a great job. Too much criticism was going on about refereeing in the last couple of weeks. The referee was in a good position and if he thought it wasn't a penalty, then it wasn't. I don't mind honestly,” said Coppell.

The Men of Steel will play three back-to-back away matches. On the hectic schedule, the British coach opined, “Our next game (against FC Pune City) is very difficult. We will travel 12 hours. From the beginning of the season, I knew that January end will be tough. But we have a strong squad. We are up for the challenge. Winning two consecutive matches has given us the confidence.”

Steve Coppell also confirmed that they expect Sameehg Doutie to be fit and join the squad for the next game.
