Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Delhi Dynamos FC has completed a permanent transfer for winger Nandhakumar S. The 22-year-old was signed initially on a loan deal from I-League side Chennai City at the start of the season.
The youngster has become a regular of late in the struggling Dynamos’ side which currently sits dead last in the standings. The Tamil Nadu man has caught the eye of Miguel Angel Portugal with his displays on the left wing after being used sparingly at the start of the season.
Son of a bus conductor, Nandhakumar was plying his trade in the Chennai Senior Division League. His impressive performances there saw him being snapped up by Chennai City FC. He was given his maiden call-up to the India Under-23 side by Stephen Constantine in a friendly against their Singapore counterparts last year.
On his part, the young winger was delighted to have signed permanently for the ISL outfit.
“I am delighted to have signed a permanent deal with Delhi Dynamos. The club and coach Portugal have believed in me and my game has gone from strength to strength over the past few months. I am hoping to give my best not just this season, but in the coming seasons as well,” he said.
Coach Miguel Angel Portugal also expressed delight at the youngster’s move and said that Nandhakumar was an ideal fit to his style of play.
“Nandha has impressed us all with the effort he puts in training day-in day-out. He is a quick learner and is someone who fits in perfectly well to my style of play here at Dynamos,” the Spaniard said after the permanent transfer was completed.
Chennai City owner Rohit Ramesh also wished Nandhakumar the very best after the move and applauded the Dynamos for showing faith in the youngster.
“We are delighted that a boy from Chennai is making it big in the ISL. Delhi Dynamos have shown faith in Nandha and they are now reaping rewards. We at Chennai City wish him luck and hope he goes onto achieve bigger things in the future,” Ramesh said.
