India U-16 to face Cameroon instead of Turkey

Cameroon has replaced Turkey as India U16s' next opponents in their exposure trip...

India U-16 will take on Cameroon in a friendly in Istanbul on Wednesday as part of their preparations ahead of the upcoming AFC U-16 Championship. 

India were scheduled to play Turkey on Wednesday. However, that fixture has now been deferred and  the All India Football Federation (AIFF) contacted Cameroon Football Federation with an offer to play a friendly game. Cameroon U-16 National side has been camping at Istanbul in preparation for their upcoming U-17 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Cameroon defeated Congo 3-1 in the final of the Central African Football Federations' Union (UNIFFAC) youth tournament on Sunday (August 12, 2018) to qualify for the 2019 U-17 AFCON.

Bibiano Fernandes' boys, who are currently preparing for the AFC U-16 Championship, lost to Oman in their first match of the tournament. They will now face Cameroon on August 22 and have a friendly lined up against the youth team of Besiktas

As part of their build-up towards the continental competition, the India Colts recently finished as runners-up to Japan in the 2018 WAFF (Western Asian Football Federation) U-16 Championship in Jordan where they defeated the hosts, Yemen as well as defending AFC U-16 Champions Iraq.
