‘I'm ready to play’ - Etebo not set for substitute role at Las Palmas

Ogenekaro Etebo has said that he is at Las Palmas to play a prominent role.

The 22-year-old was brought in by the struggling Spanish La Liga outfit on transfer deadline day, on loan from CD Feirense. And he has stated his desire to be a regular in the side.

“I’m ready to play, but it all depends on the coach,” Etebo told club website.

“I’m ready, I’m fit, I did not come to be on the bench, but it all depends on the coach.

“When they [Las Palmas] are interested in you, it’s all much easier and that’s one of the reasons why I changed teams.”

Etebo, renowned for his versatility, is able to fill in various midfield and attacking roles.

“I am comfortable as an extreme. I came to help the team.

“I do not care if I score or if I assist what I want is for my team to get the three points.”

The Rio Olympics bronze medalist, alongside Emmanuel Emenike, will be hoping to be break into Paco Jémez’s starting lineup when they welcome Malaga - with compatriots and fellow January signings Brown Ideye and Isaac Success - to the Estadio de Gran Canaria in Monday’s La Liga clash.

Las Palmas are placed 19th, just above bottom-placed Malaga, with 14 points from 21 games.
