Keeper Ian Otieno has turned down an offer to sign a contract with Batoto ba Mungu for trials in Zambia with Red Arrows

Former AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ian Otieno has turned down an offer to sign a contract with Sofapaka to attend trials in Zambia.

A source within Batoto ba Mungu has revealed to Goal that Otieno was due to sign a long term contract with the club on Monday but instead, opted to attend trials with Red Arrows in Ndola.

“Ian (Otieno) received his down payment from Sofapaka and was due to sign a contract after he received the remaining amount but we are now shocked that he has opted to travel to Zambia for trials.”

Otieno has been training with Sofapaka and was among the new faces paraded by the former league champions as they prepare to kick-off the 2018 season.

The former Posta Rangers goalkeeper is among players released by Ingwe at the end of last season. Another former AFC Leopards player Andrew Tololwa is also undergoing trials with the same team in Zambia.
