The Algeria international has revealed that the appeal of winning silverware is what made him join the Turk Telekom Stadium

Galatasaray midfielder Sofiane Feghouli has said he joined the club to win trophies.

The 27-year-old joined the Yellow-Reds in the summer for £3.8 million from West Ham United has scored two goals in seven appearances.

And the former Valencia midfielder has lifted the lid on why he left the London Stadium for Turkey, saying he came to win as many trophies as he can in five years with Igor Tudor’s side.

"It is not so easy to win trophies while playing in Valencia because you have two opponents very tough like Real Madrid and Barcelona," Feghouli told club website.

"In the European Cup, we [Valencia] played twice in the semifinal.

"My main purpose of joining Galatasaray is to win trophies both in the league and in Europe.

"Before the start of the season, I was coming back from injury and I got an offer of Galatasaray. So I agreed to this proposal.

"I have known about Galatasaray for a very long time and I knew it was a big club.

"I am very happy that I came. I play in a big club, live in great excitement, and I want to win trophies.

"I came to win as many trophies as I can here in the next five years," he concluded.
