Henrique's Brisbane Roar promise pays off

The Brazilian striker has lived up to his word since returning to Brisbane

After returning to the club mid-season, Brisbane Roar veteran Henrique was determined to have an impact despite not having a pre-season under his belt.

And an impact he has most certainly had with the affectionately known 'Slippery Fish' scoring twice in the final regular game of the season to hand Brisbane a crucial 3-2 win over Perth Glory.

The win means the Roar have jumped into sixth but will have to hope the Wanderers fail to beat Adelaide on Sunday to ensure they'll play finals' football.

While Henrique's return raised some eyebrows, the player himself made a vow to his teammates his homecoming would have an impact.

"When I came back I looked the boys in the eyes and I promised them, ‘I’m hungry, I want to make the finals and I’ll leave everything on the field’," Henrique told Fox Sports post-game.

"So that’s what I did.

"I left everything on the field and it was enough."

The striker netted two well taken goals in Perth and admitted though his fitness has been a battle his instincts always shine through.

"It was a bit harder without a pre-season," he said.

"I play a lot of games, I know what to do."
