Guingamp terminate Abdoul Camara’s contract for medical reasons

French Ligue 1 outfit Guingamp have confirmed that Abdoul Camara ‘will no longer wear the shirt of the club’ due to medical reasons.

A lengthy injury has shortened the winger’s stay at the Stade de Roudourou after scoring two goals in 14 league games during his first and only campaign.

Camara damaged the lateral collateral ligament of his knee in a Ligue 1 encounter against Troyes back in December 2017.

After series of medical examinations, Guingamp announced that the 28-year-old’s playing stint at the club has come to an end - with fears his professional career might also be over.

“Guingamp's En En Avant is today very sad to announce that its player Razza Camara will no longer wear the shirt of the EAG, for medical reasons following a long process of exams that have just returned their verdict,” read a club statement.

“All our thoughts accompany Razza and his family in this painful ordeal to overcome. The whole Club wishes him good luck for this new turn in his life. We will be there to help him, by his side.”

Camara, born in Guinea, started his playing career in France at OS Fives before joining Rennes, Vannes and Sochaux.

The 28-year-old later travelled abroad for stints with PAOK, Mallorca and Derby County before returning to France last summer.
