Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has thanked boss Pep Guardiola for his remarkable season, calling him 'the best coach in the world'.

Sane picked up the PFA Young Player of the Year award on Sunday night on the back of the 22-year-old scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in the Premier League this season.

The Germany international has cemented himself as a starter at the Etihad Stadium this season and he believes that his manager deserves recognition for his fantastic campaign.

"He is, for me, the best coach in the world," Sane told Sky Sports News .

"Everyone can see that we've improved a lot and have taken the next step.

"He always tries to get the best and show us the way to play good football."

Sane beat players such as Tottenham striker Harry Kane and City team-mate Raheem Sterling to claim the PFA award, and he was delighted to have won the accolade.

"The Premier League has fantastic players and I'm really honoured to receive the award,” said Sane.

"All the other players who were also nominated played a really good season and they also deserve to win.”

Sane joined City from Schalke in 2016 and has enjoyed his football at the Etihad, winning both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League this season.

He added: "I'm really grateful because the team is perfect.

"To play with fantastic players like we have in our team is great. Thankfully the club gave me the chance to do it and I enjoy it a lot.”
