Graham relishing reunion with Scott as Ajax meet Wits

Ajax Cape Town captain Travis Graham is mindful that he could meet his former teammate Granwald Scott when they visit Bidvest Wits on Tuesday.

“It will be my first time playing against Granwald Scott, obviously having played alongside him for a very long time. I am happy for him and what he has achieved, but knowing Bidvest Wits-it is going to be difficult because they are title contenders, especially this season,” Graham told his club’s website.

The Urban Warriors have been revived since the appointment of Stanley Menzo. They have since moved off the drop zone into ninth place.

“Bidvest Wits have a good squad, knowing coach Gavin (Hunt) and the team he has at his disposal it is going to be a difficult game, they are going to go all in-we will have to match that. For us playing away, it is important that we try and at least get a draw, if we get a chance to win it, we must make sure we don’t let it slip, three points would be the best outcome,” Graham said.

Ajax will host another title-chasing side days later in neighbours Cape Town City, who put one over them in the first round.

“We have to take it one game at a time, but knowing that the #CapeTownDerby is coming up, things go out of the line and the media can almost jump past the Bidvest Wits game. It is really important for us as players to try and get that confidence booster against Bidvest Wits, especially with the second half of the campaign.

"If we do get a positive result it will boost us to go into the derby and hopefully we will get a good result there. It is important to start well and that would obviously reflect positively on the second half of the campaign." Graham concluded.
