The Gor Mahia skipper said things were not under his control in Tanzania

Gor Mahia players refused to take their Cecafa Kagame Cup bronze medals last Friday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, a decision that invited a two-year ban by the organizers.

A section of the fans, as well as stakeholders, have also pointed blame finger on club captain Haron Shakava for not convincing the players to take on the podium.

However, the skipper says some things were just not under his control.

"I am the captain and at times the blame falls on me, but one thing for sure is that I could not go alone to collect the medals.

"My colleagues wanted one player to represent them, they did not want to go for them and I could not force them to do that.

"We are sorry for that show, it painted a bad picture on us, but we want to make it right by playing well on Wednesday and winning against Yanga."

The match between Yanga and Gor Mahia will be played at Kasarani Stadium from 7.00 PM.
