Marouane Fellaini has revealed a drastic new look after the Manchester United midfielder shaved off his distinctive afro.
The midfielder, who turns 31 on November 22, posted pictures of himself on social media with the caption "New year, new look."
The Belgian is entering his sixth season at United following his five-year spell at Everton, having committed his future to the club amidst speculation in the summer.
The towering midfielder has often been Jose Mourinho's go-to option from the bench for United, giving them a more direct option when chasing a game or to defend long balls forward when holding a lead.
"[I'm] a player who knows his qualities. I know what I can do, and what I can’t," he said to Manchester United's official website.
And Mourinho insisted that using Fellaini off the bench, rather than from the start, could have made a decisive difference to the result of the Manchester derby, which City won 3-1 on Sunday.
“Fellaini was not ready to play for 90 minutes. I can just imagine when the result was 2-1 to bring a fresh Fellaini to the pitch. I think they would be in big, big trouble," Mourinho said to the Evening Standard.
“But when the result was 2-1 and we had that final push Fellaini was doing an incredible effort to stay on the pitch, not fresh at all, risking his injury and condition and giving everything for the team.
“But clearly one thing is to bring a fresh Fellaini on and another thing is to bring him on fresh for this match."
