EXTRA TIME: Watch the support for Banyana ahead of Cosafa Cup

Banyana Banyana visited Emsengeni Primary School in Port Elizabeth. It's fair to say that they have inspired many young players to play the game and to support them during the Women's Cosafa Cup.

Meanwhile, coach Desiree Ellis has released Bloemfontein Celtic’s Melinda Kgadiete from the SA squad because she isn't fit to participate.

Kgadiete is replaced by Tiisetso Makhubela of Mamelodi Sundowns, and Ellis explains the squad change to Safa Media.

“It is unfortunate that we had to send her back home because we found that she was not in the correct physical state for a tournament of this magnitude. It is a good thing we were able to detect this very early before the start of competition so we could effect changes,” said Ellis to Safa.

“At the end of the day it is all about the team, and we are hopeful this decision will push players to stay in perfect physical condition to be able to represent their nation as the demands of international games are much higher.”

Banyana Banyana will play against Madagascar on Wednesday, 12 September at the Wolfson Stadium.
