The German's return to Amakhosi is one of the most surprising PSL news stories of the season, and social media was buzzing in South Africa

On Friday evening Kaizer Chiefs unexpectedly announced the appointment of Ernst Middendorp as their new head coach.

The news was revealed shortly after the revelation that Amakhosi fired Italian coach Giovanni Solinas.

Middendorp's contract will be for a two and a half year period. Even though many fans are not satisfied with the news on social media, the club has pointed out that the German had won the 2006 Absa Cup and the 2006 SAA Supa 8 during his first spell with Chiefs.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the news of Solinas exit and the arrival of Middendorp.
