Emre Can billed as 'ideal' addition for Juventus by club legend Del Piero

Emre Can would be “ideal” for Juventus during the transfer window, says Alessandro Del Piero.

The Germany international is yet to commit to fresh terms at Anfield and is heading towards free agency at the end of the season as a result.

A pre-contract agreement could be reached with potential suitors in the new year, while a cut-price transfer is also a possibility if Liverpool look to cash in.

Del Piero believes Juventus should be pushing for such a deal, with the reigning Serie A champions in need of greater squad depth and already being heavily linked with the 23-year-old.

The Bianconeri legend told Sky Sport Italia: "[Massimiliano] Allegri's side needs another midfielder because [Sami] Khedira is known to pick up minor knocks.

"[Claudio] Marchisio is coming back from injury, but he's still not at his best and [Miralem] Pjanic is not such a physical player.

"Emre Can of Liverpool would be ideal, and he's not even that expensive. He could be the big name for Juve in January. They need somebody like him.

"He's physically present and somebody like Emre Can would fit in very well with Pjanic and Khedira."

Can has given little away when pressed on his future plans, with questions again asked of him following a recent Premier League victory at Stoke.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.

"It is not about money, that's all I can say.

"Yes I could [sign a pre-contract with another club], but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We'll see."

Jurgen Klopp has also refused to be dragged into a debate regarding Can’s future, but he has conceded that an exit could be on the cards.

He said: "It's part of football. If it happens, we can't change it.

"If there is a player out there whose contract is ending then we should try to do the same. It's a big opportunity. I cannot say it is a big problem.”
