Ejike Uzoenyi scores on Bidvest Wits debut

It took just six minutes after he came off the bench for the 24-year-old to find the net in his first competitive game for the Clever Boys

Ejike Uzoenyi made a successful bow for Bidvest Wits as he found the target in an ABSA Premiership encounter against Baroka FC on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international joined the Clever Boys from Mamelodi Sundowns owing to lack of regular playing time.

And he made an instant impact for Gavin Hunt’s men after replacing Gabadinho Mhango in the 77th minute – in his side’s 5-0 thumping of the visitors.

Uzoenyi slammed in an audacious to put Wits four goals up before substitute Phakamani Mahlambi completed the rout.

With this victory, Hunt’s men lead the South African elite division log with 34 points from 16 games, and will visit Mamelodi Sundowns in their next game on Saturday.
