Chivas lead way in Mexico U-20 call-up

The Guadalajara side has six players on the 26-man roster called by Marco Antonio Ruiz ahead of next month's regional championship.

Chivas is the Liga MX team that leads the way on Mexico's most recent U-20 call-up, the final camp before coach Marco Antonio Ruiz brings in his group for February's CONCACAF U-20 championship.

Six players from the Guadalajara side - defenders Juan Aguayo and Manuel Mayorga, midfielders Alan Cervantes and Diego Cortes, and forwards Jose Godinez and Kevin Magana - were among the 26 called for a three-week camp that will include five preparation matches.

Cervantes, Cortes and Magana were part of the U-17 team that took fourth place in the 2015 U-17 World Cup in Chile. That team also included Santos Laguna's Eduardo Aguirre and Kevin Lara, who are on the U-20 squad along with Ronaldo Cisneros and Carlos Antuna, giving the Torreon team the second-most players on the roster.

Chivas, which has a history of a strong academy thanks in part to the fact that the club signs no non-Mexican players, also led the way for calls to the U-17 side. Seven Chivas players are on the roster, while Pachuca's three is the next highest.

Full roster:

Goalkeepers: Jose Hernandez (Atlas), Fernando Hernandez (Monterrey), Abraham Romero (Pachuca)

Defenders: Juan Aguayo (Chivas), Jorge Duran (Leon), Jose Esquivel (Pachuca), Manuel Mayorga (Chivas), Ulises Torres (America), Brayton Vazquez (Atlas)
