There is plenty on the line for both sides in their penultimate World Cup qualifier and we are backing the hosts to win a game with goals at both ends

South America's reigning continental champions are in serious danger of missing out of next year's World Cup after a disasterous run of at the end of their qualifying campaign. Chile have lost three of their last four matches, with their last two games seeing them suffering two hugely disappointing defeats; 3-0 at home to Paraguay and 1-0 away to Bolivia.

Those results mean that the winners of the last two editions of the Copa America sit in sixth spot with only the top four guaranteed a place in Russia next summer, although Chile are just a point off fourth and should get back to winning ways against CONMEBOL's most out of form team.

After a flying start to qualifying, Ecuador have faltered badly and four defeats in the four qualifiers they have played this year have severely dented their qualification chances, although they have not been erased completely.

In order to do keep their World Cup hopes alive, realistically Ecuador need to beat Chile, and although they are outsiders for the game in Santiago, they did record a 3-0 home win over La Roja earlier in qualifying.

Dabblebet offer the visitors at 7/1 (8.00) to claim three points, while Chile can be backed at 4/11 (1.44) and the draw is offered at 4/1 (5.00).

The hosts know that three points are absolutely vital, especially given that their final game is away to a Brazil side who have never lost a home World Cup qualifier. The onus is on Juan Antonio Pizzi's side to pick up a win at home therefore and before their shock defeat to Paraguay, Chile had been rock solid at home recording four straight qualifying wins.

Backing La Roja to get back to winning ways makes sense, and they are offered at 10/11 (1.91) to win a game with over 2.5 goals, although for higher odds hwever the price of 2/1 (3.00) for a home win and both teams to score looks tempting, especially when considering Ecuador's scoring form on the road.

Despite their catastrophic run of results, Ecuador have netted in seven of their eight away qualifiers - with their only blank coming against runaway leaders Brazil - and Ecuador scored on their last visit to Chile when the hosts came out on top.

This bet has paid out in three of Chile's last four home qualifiers, while Ecuador have scored in but lost four of their last six away qualifiers, making La Roja to win and both teams to score a worthwhile punt at 2/1 (3.00).
