Chemelil Sugar smash two past Kakamega Homeboyz to ease relegation woes

Chemelil Sugar increased their chances of avoiding the axe after they beat Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 on Monday.

The victory by the sugar millers opened up the battle to escaping relegation play-off with Posta Rangers and four other teams now staring at a bleak future as the season comes to a close on October 7.

Lucas Waitere and Felix Oluoch’s goals in either half gave Chemelil Sugar their ninth win of the season. Oluoch gave the Millers the lead in the 19th minute after he was released by Edwin Omondi.

The provider was later waved down for an offside when he thought that he had doubled Chemelil’s lead. Waitere made up for his mistakes after he blew away two golden opportunities when he struck Chemelil Sugar’s second deep into the second half to hand Paul Nkata’s side their 14th defeat of the season.

Homeboyz will be up against Posta Rangers, who are fighting to avoid dropping to the play-offs while Chemelil Sugar will be up against Kariobangi Sharks in the final match of the season.

Chemelil Sugar moved a place up from the automatic play-off slot (16th) dislodging Rangers on 17th place while Homeboyz remained ninth on the log with 43 points. Chemelil Sugar escaped relegation on the final day last season.
