Carabao Cup Betting: Manchester United shade favouritism over Chelsea and Manchester City

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Premier League's current top three are favoured in the League Cup market too, but Arsenal and Liverpool are not far behind

The League Cup gets into slightly more serious business this week as the Premier League’s elite clubs enter the fray, having been granted a second-round bye due to European commitments.

And, for the most part, these teams have been handed generous draws; Chelsea host Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur welcome Barnsley to London, and Arsenal face Doncaster Rovers at home.

Last season’s winners Manchester United have an equally kind tie as they will play Burton Albion at Old Trafford, with the Premier League side favourites to retain the trophy at 11/2 (6.50) with dabblebet.

Manchester City won the competition in both 2014 and 2016 and they are 7/1 (8.0) to make it three wins in five years, whilst you can back 2015 champions Chelsea at the same price.

As the most successful team in the history of the League Cup with eight victories, Liverpool will always be potential challengers, and they are priced at 9/1 (10.0) to win the cup for the first time since 2012.

Spurs, who were runners up in 2009 and 2015, are also available at 9/1 (10.0) whilst north London rivals Arsenal, looking for a first EFL Cup crown in 25 years, are slightly shorter at 7/1 (8.0).

Ronald Koeman’s Everton have never won the tournament and are 14/1 (15.0) to break that duck this season, with West Ham at 20/1 (21.0) and Stoke City next at 25/1 (26.0).

No team since Sheffield Wednesday in 1991 has won the tournament whilst not playing in the top flight, but 66/1 (67.0) is offered on the Championship quartet of Middlesbrough, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Wolves.
