Mamelodi Sundowns will head into Saturday’s clash with Kaizer Chiefs boosted by the return to fitness of two of their star players.

Khama Billiat and Denis Onyango had been nursing injuries which kept them out of action for some time, but the club has confirmed that the two players are back in training.

The return of Billiat in particular will bring about a sense of relief for Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane. The 52-year-old tactician has previously bemoaned the absence of his star attacker as Sundowns struggled to score goals.

Sundowns failed to win any of their last three Premier Soccer League (PSL) encounters prior to the international break.

Media officer Thulani Thuswa confirmed that both Billiat and Onyango are fit and raring to go having recovered from their respective injuries.

“The two-week Fifa break has done the players a power of good and it’s great news to have both Khama and Denis back,” Thuswa told SunSport.

Thuswa also revealed that Yannick Zakri and Sibusiso Vilakazi are still nursing injuries and admits that the latter is doubtful for Saturday's encounter.

“He (Vilakazi) looks very doubtful and is in a race against time to get fit for Chiefs. It’s a huge blow with so many players injured,” Thuswa said.

Despite Sundowns’ injury woes, Thuswa reiterated that the technical team and players are taking the game very seriously.

“The coach and players are taking this game very seriously. It’s a big game for the club. We know what is at stake here,” Thuswa concluded.
